Are you influenced to buy products by their packaging? I'm ashamed to say I am! This was one such product - I mean look at it, can you blame me? Laura Mercier's Sun-Kissed Veil is basically summer in a compact. It's a light creamy balm that melts into skin to give you the perfect sun-kissed look. It can be used on face and body for an instant summer glow. Sounds perfect right?
First of all, lets talk about the packaging. It has the most gorgeous blue and yellow marbled effect print. It's weighty and well made. There's also a mirror in the lid. As soon as you open the compact, you get the tropical scent of coconuts. It's light, not overpowering at all. I adore anything coconut scented, so that was a welcome surprise for me!
Now onto the product itself. This is definitely not a traditional bronzer. It's sheer and dewy, with an illuminating finish. Although it looks very orange in the pan, it's not when it's on skin. It's a huge pan too - you get 12g, which is great if you do want to use it on your body too. It's a balm consistency, so it melts as soon as you touch it. I've purposely included pictures of it swatched so you can see the texture of it better.
It's light, smooth and creamy and melts to almost an oil with a subtle golden shimmer. This is what gives it that perfect dewy finish. So how does it look on the skin? As you can see from the swatch below it's sheer, so it really does give a wash / veil of bronze.
As I'm very paled skinned, this is a perfect bronzer for me. It gives my skin warmth, without being over the top or heavy. I do think this would be more of an illuminator rather than a bronzer for those with darker skin tones. The warmth definitely wouldn't show up as much but the gold shimmer and dewiness would.
All in all, this is a fab product and I'm pleased a grabbed one when I did. It'll be a perfect addition to my spring / summer makeup.
