I hope you’re all ready for this post, it’s a long one! More of a tale than a post...🤣
As you have all probably gathered I have a slight obsession with shopping at Space NK. I only discovered that they existed last year so I was late to the party! They sell amazing skincare and makeup products and have literally THE BEST loyalty scheme I’ve come across!
Another obsession of mine is obviously skincare. This led me to the queen of skincare herself, Caroline Hirons! Pretty much everything I know about skincare, I learnt from Caroline. Not personally obviously, but from her blog / social media. Lady H’s knowledge about skincare is vast, if she doesn’t know it, it’s not worth knowing! She’s a qualified advanced aesthetician and facialist. She often consults for skincare brands too.
If you’ve not read her blog before, I highly recommend you check it out. She posts reliable and honest reviews. Her “Cheat Sheets” are a must read. Whether you’re a skincare newbie or know your stuff, I guarantee you’ll learn something new! Plus she’s got a wicked sense of humour! Her Instagram stories are always worth a watch for a giggle! She’s also on YouTube and does amazing informative brand overviews. She even had her own groupie hashtag #carolinehironsmademedoit (coined by skincare guru @lizalaskabeauty, also worth a follow!) This hashtag has been used over 34,000 times, just to give you an idea of how well respected her recommendations are!
So when I saw that Caroline was collaborating with Space NK for their “Clean Beauty” campaign, I immediately read all I could about it and watched the YouTube video. The campaign aims to de-code the minefield that is the term “Clean Beauty”. There’s so much conflicting information and scaremongering out there when it comes to clean Beauty terminology, so it was great to have someone reliable deciphering it all.
I’m part of a Facebook group set up by Caroline designed for her fans to discuss all things skincare. It’s affectionately called “Caroline Hirons Skincare Freaks”. It was in this group that I learnt that Caroline was doing the collaboration beauty box with Space NK. I knew immediately that I had to have it! I’d missed out on Caroline’s last box with Cult Beauty and have kicked myself about it ever since! Now everything was kept hush hush about the box. There was no hints at what would be in it, other than “clean beauty” products, no price, nor a release date other than August! This got me in to a bit of a flap as I had Space NK n.Dulge loyalty points that expired mid August! What if the box was released after?! You can imagine my panic! I’d posted on the freaks group about my dilemma saying should I spend the points now?! Caroline herself replied saying one word - Wait 😉 So of course I did as I was told. A few days later a countdown timer for the box appeared on the Space NK website! We had a release date and time! Wahoo! I’d be at work but could take a quick screen break to order it!
So the release day finally arrived! After lots of chat and speculation on the Facebook group the night before, I was excited to find out what was in the box once and for all! I was also dying to know the price. I was a bit worried it would be out of my price range and I’d have to bow out. Thankfully that wasn’t the case! The box went live, I love the contents and ordered it. Good old Space NK included next day delivery, 3 samples and a GWP too! Bonus.
Now, finally what’s actually in it?!
There’s a great selection of products:
REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream* - full sized. I’ve not tried this cream before but it sounds lovely! It’s designed to hydrate and calm skin whilst protecting it from pollution.
Cover FX Blurring Primer - full sized. Promises to give you smooth, air-brushed looking skin. I’m sure I’ve tried a sample of this before and it was very similar to Benefit’s Porefessional.
Oskia Renaissance cleansing gel* - travel sized but decent sized. I’ve been dying to try this cult classic for ages! Needless to say it was the first product from the box I opened! It’s got the same gorgeous scent as their Renaissance mask. It’s a unique cleanser in that it’s a gel to oil texture! This really intrigued me! I used it as a second cleanse, which it was perfect for! It left my skin clean and soft.
Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient lighting powder - travel sized in shade Dim Light. I’ve recently bought this shade in a palette along with two others. I’m in love with the formula and have used it every day since! So I’m glad to have a back up.
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask - mini. Another product that I’ve been wanting to try for ages! So I have to admit I was a little disappointed at the size of this product. It is tiny! I can’t see me getting more than 2 uses out of it. That being said, it’s certainly not spoilt the box for me as it’s amazing value! I’m excited to try it out!
Herbivore Botanicals Phoenix oil - travel size. I was so pleased that this fabulous oil was included! If you remember, it featured in my recent desert island product series so I’m glad to have another bottle!
Odacite Pomegranate and Rose Geranium Hydration serum concentrate - full sized. I’ve been wanting to try more from Odacite after enjoying a sample of their eye serum in a previous Space NK GWP. This promises to hydrate skin, calm inflammation and lift your mood with its scent, all without producing excess sebum. Sounds fab!
Mauli Supreme Skin Serum - generous travel size. This was a brand that I hadn’t heard of before. I’d somehow overlooked them on Space NK’s website! Mauli’s products are handmade in England and are therapeutic thanks to their wonderful fragrances used. This serum promotes the production of collagen in skin, to leave it hydrated, plumped and firm!
And last but not least Soleil Toujours 100% Mineral Sunscreen Glow SPF 30 - travel sized but again a generous size. This SPF is designed to suit all skin tones and will provide a healthy glow as well as hydration and sun protection. I was a bit worried about trying this as I’m very pale and tinted products often leave me looking like an umpah lumpah. I’m pleased to say this isn’t one of them! It’s lovely and light, easily absorbed and gives skin a healthy natural tint. I’m impressed! It lasted well, coverage wise throughout the day too.
